Wallula Gap sunrise

Fifty years ago, my grandfather introduced me to the grandeur of Wallula Gap, where the Columbia River begins its final turn toward the Pacific. High cliffs of basalt tower above the biceps of supporting hills, and the vast expanse of water burnishes what little sound there is.
